AB - Behaviour of reinforced concrete depends on the transfer of tensile forces from reinforcing bars into concrete. This transfer relies on the bond. Therefore, in the finite element modelling of RC members one needs a simple and realistic bond model. In the present paper a discrete bond model which is used in the three-dimensional finite element analysis of RC structures is described and its performance is demonstrated on a few numerical examples. The numerical results are compared with the experimental results.
