Abstract

The first objective in the present paper is to propose a constitutive model to represent the softening behavior of concrete under a general stress state. The second objective is to show the efficiency of the model by comparing the model prediction with experimental data under non-proportional loading paths. In the first half of the present paper, the authors' constitutive softening model is developed in detail to predict softening behavior under a general stress state. In the second half of the paper, the outline of the experiment for non-proportional loading is explained, and model predictions are compared with the triaxial compression test data under non-proportional loading.
