A numerical analysis of stresses and deformations in cement-based repair systems due to transient moisture gradients was performed. The main parameters of this investigation were the Young`s modulus, the tensile strength, the fracture energy and the thickness of the repair overlay, the moisture con- tent of the structural member to be repaired as well as the fracture mechanical properties of the interface between the repair overlay and the substrate. The calculated results showed a good agreement with experi- mental results published so far and practical experiences, and could therefore be used for the evaluation of valid German guidelines concerning the design and the implementation of repair measures.
