Abstract

this paper puts forward the basic ideas of an original approach for modeling the cracking be- havior of cement-based composites: arising from results of numerical simulations representing the – discrete and probabilistic – cracking behavior of concrete in tension, the mechanical uniaxial pre-peak and post-peak responses are analyzed in statistical terms. Information thus obtained is implemented in a simplified macro- scopic modeling of the material mechanical behavior.
