Abstract

A gradient-dependent plasticity theory is applied in finite element solutions of static strain localisation problems. Assuming weak satisfaction constitutive equations, a layered beam element with a mixed character is developed. The plastic strain field is discretized in addition of the displacement field. Some examples are carried out to verify performance of both the element and the algorithm.
