AB - In most existing proposals, the internal length in non local damage models is a constant parameter. Still, there are some theoretical indications that suggest that the internal length should change in the course of the fracture process. The aim of this contribution is firstly to examine the correlation between the width of the fracture process zone observed with acoustic emission and the internal length, and secondly to consolidate these experimental observations in a modified non local damage model with evolving internal length.
