Abstract

Instructural engineering, the integrity of concrete structures when subjected to cyclic loads remainsasignificantconcern, moresointhecaseofrepairedstructuresormassconcreteframeworks, wherein inherent interfacial imperfections exist. Hence, it is essential to model the fatigue crack propagation in concrete bi-material interface in order to facilitate the evaluation of the structural integrity of concrete constructions. This study considers the intrinsic mixed mode character of the interface and proposes a generalised model based on Paris, law to predict fatigue crack propagation in concrete-concrete interface by introducing equivalent stress intensity factor instead of mode-I stress intensity factor. The prediction model is validated using the experimental data on concrete-concrete interface from existing literature.
