Abstract

Creep and shrinkage test results of the proposed SCC mix for bridge girders (in the state of Kansas) are presented. Four bridge girders with an inverted tee profile were used to measure the creep and shrinkage in typical bridge girders. In two of the girder specimens the strands were tensioned to seventy-five percent of ultimate tensile strength. The strands of the other two girder specimens used were left un- tensioned to evaluate the shrinkage effect of the concrete. In addition, the fully tensioned girder specimens were used to determine the transfer length of the pre-stressing strand.
