Abstract

By applying the impact-echo method, SIBIE (Stack Imaging of spectral amplitudes Based on Impact Echo) procedure is developed as an imaging technique, which can visually display a cross-sectional view based on the impact-echo data. The procedure is applied to on-site measurement in concrete structures. In order to identify voids in delaminated zone between concrete piers of an express highway and pre-stressed concrete (PC) panels covered, the impact was driven with two-point detection. For estimation of the surface- crack depth, one-point detection was applied. From these results, an applicability of the procedure to on-site measurement for internal voids and cracks is demonstrated in existing concrete structures.
