The load bearing capacity of reinforced beams of fibrous high-strength concrete is investigated, experimentally and computationally. Both metal- lic (steel) and non-metallic (polyolefin and carbon) fibres are used, keep- ing the volume fraction to 1 % . A nonlinear truss model is outlined which incorporates most of the pertinent mechanisms in the experiments, includ- ing the rebar-to-concrete bond and crack widths. The law for evolution of stable growth of local cracks in the structure is based on the response of uniaxial tensile tests.
